A body of an unidentified woman was found in the Vaal River on Friday, November 26.
Standerton Police issued a statement the past week, saying information was received about a drowning near Rooikoppen.

According to police, her throat was slit and two big stones were attached to her body.
An open wound was noticed on her back.
Police said the age of the deceased is between 19 to 30 years old and she had tattoos on her left arms
Acting station commander, Lieut-Col Buti Mokoena, was devastated by this incident as the police in Standerton fight gender-based violence during the 16 days of activism.
Lieut-Col Mokoena added that no stone will be left unturned to bring the perpetrator/s to book.
