Double Mpumalanga title triumph for Sasol Secunda Bowling Club

Lanie Nel and Koos Jonker are provincial champions.

Sasol Secunda Bowling Club celebrated an outstanding performance at the Mpumalanga Singles Playoffs, with two players crowned provincial champions and another securing a bronze medal.

The playoffs, featuring the top 10 players from each division, took place from June 20 to 21.

The veterans’ competition was hosted at Nelspruit Bowling Club, while the open division was played at Barberton Bowling Club.

In the men’s veteran singles division, Koos Jonker claimed the Mpumalanga title after winning four of his five matches.

He finished on eight game points with a +42 shot aggregate to top the standings.

Gavin Shoobert of Witbank Golf Bowling Club finished second, while Riaan van der Linde of White River Bowling Club took third place.

In the open division, Lanie Nel was crowned Mpumalanga champion after an unbeaten tournament, winning all five matches.

Nel finished with 10 game points and a +34 shot aggregate. Rohan Greyvenstein of Nelspruit Bowling Club placed second, while Billy Barnard of Witbank Bowling Club finished third.

Sasol Secunda Bowling Club also celebrated Louise Pretorius, who earned the bronze medal in the women’s veteran division.

The results saw Sasol Secunda Bowling Club produce both the Mpumalanga men’s veteran and open singles champions, highlighting the club’s strength across multiple divisions.
