Update: House fire allegedly not caused by lightning

Another person on scene disputes first version of events.

Conflicting reports on the cause of yesterday’s fire, in which a Jeep Wrangler and part of a house were destroyed, have surfaced on Facebook.

A bystander initially claimed that it was lightning that caused the fire

According to Jessica Gouws Maier though, she was on the scene and spoke to the owner. Gouws Maier claims that according to the information she received, the lady of the house was about to leave but when she started her vehicle, it exploded. Christelle Havenga Booysen’s version differs slightly – she wrote “The car made an electrical short and ADT informed the owners that the house was burning. I spoke to the owner”.

No one was injured in the fire and the family pets were quickly rescued.
