Women’s Day event brings hope to safe haven in Fleurhof
Residents enjoyed dancing, an inspirational talk, gifts and lunch during an uplifting gathering focused on self-worth and connection.
In celebration of Women’s Day, the Serve to Grow Foundation visited the Elizabeth Walk Safe Haven in Fleurhof on August 8.
According to the director of the foundation, Mellisa Huber, the purpose of the event was to remind the women that they matter, are valued, and deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated.

The day was filled with warmth, joy and togetherness. The women were treated to soul dancing, a motivational and self-empowerment talk, gifts, lunch and dessert. The celebration created an atmosphere where everyone could relax, connect and feel appreciated.
Elizabeth’s Walk is a faith-based haven and support ministry founded by Nadine Gibbs. It primarily assists women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, as well as those dealing with trauma and hardship, offering counselling, life skills, and spiritual guidance.

Guest speaker Sandy Drew delivered a powerful and inspiring message on self-love, self-worth and personal empowerment. She reminded the women that they are good enough, worthy and deserving of love, recognition and a brighter future.
“Such events are very important to us as an organisation, as they show that there are people out there who care and they’re not forgotten. It’s also important that the community gets together and supports, encourages and uplifts one another,” said Mellisa.

Spur Westgate sponsored burgers, desserts and shopping bags for the women.
