Hope for Helderkruin neighbour

A neighbour clash leads to the next step — a protection order.

There might be some hope for the continuous clash between two neighbours in Helderkruin.

According to Roodepoort’s South African Police Services (SAPS) spokesperson, constable Vincent Mashiteng, there is something that the woman can do towards protecting her property while her neighbour is continuously developing his.

“I would recommend that she gets the municipality to intervene in this situation. Let her get building inspectors out to see whether her allegations are fair or not.

“After that, it would be the municipality’s call about whether they will proceed to notify him to demolish the boundary wall or not [sic].”
Mashiteng believes that the best thing she could do at this point is to attempt to protect her property from further harm.

“She should get a protection order from the courts that states ‘under no circumstances is [said neighbour] allowed to enter the property’.

“Once she has applied for this protection order, the SAPS can explain the situation to her neighbour and have him sign the order.

“After that has been done, the neighbour is under strict order not to interfere with her property, and should he trespass, the SAPS can step in.”

The Record is awaiting feedback from Johannesburg City Council on the matter of his building plans.
