Child porn ring: one suspect from Roodepoort
Suspects in an international child pornography ring were arrested — one in Florida, Roodepoort.

After an initial tip-off from Interpol, the South African Police Service (SAPS) made six arrests with regard to an international child pornography ring.
One of the suspects (allegedly a teacher) was arrested in Florida on Thursday 15 August, according to Florida SAPS spokesperson, Captain Lydia Dikolomela.
Of the six suspects, four are 46 year of age, one is 49 and another is 63.
“They all are suspected to have been involved in an international child pornography syndicate,” says SAPS corporate spokesperson Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale.
“The arrests were made after the police had obtained search warrants for 15 residences across the country.
“The police are in the process of obtaining more search warrants as they are pursuing other suspects.”
Makgale says that to date the SAPS has confiscated 672 DVDs that contain child and adult pornography, nine cellphones, six computer towers, two cameras, 22 memory cards and memory sticks, eight laptops, two tablets, 39 hard drives and 25 books that contain images of child pornography.
The Lichtenburg, Bloemfontein, White River, Douglasdale, Potchefstroom and Florida Police Stations made these arrests.
The Florida suspect is due to appear in court on 12 September.
