Young equestrian represents Gauteng at championships

After obtaining his provincial colours, Jonathan is now taking on some of the country's best equestrians with the support of his family, friends, and school community behind him.

A Trinityhouse Little Falls learner has been selected to represent Gauteng in show jumping at the Toyota Youth Championships currently taking place at Shongweni in KZN.

Jonathan van Dyk is competing for Team Gauteng at the national event, which runs from June 28 to July 5 and brings together young equestrian athletes from across South Africa.

According to the school, Jonathan earned his place in the provincial team through his dedication, commitment and consistent performances in the sport. The school described his selection as an important milestone and congratulated him on the achievement.

The Toyota Youth Championships are an annual event that sees riders from different provinces compete in a range of equestrian disciplines, including show jumping. The championships provide young athletes with the opportunity to compete at national level while representing their provinces.

Jonathan will compete against some of the country’s top young riders during the week-long competition.

In a message shared by the school, Trinityhouse Little Falls said it is proud of Jonathan’s achievement and wished him every success at the championships. The school added that his selection reflects the hard work and passion he has shown for the sport.

Jonathan’s selection adds to a growing list of sporting achievements by learners at Trinityhouse Little Falls and highlights the opportunities available to young athletes who compete at provincial level.

As the championships continue this week, the school said it looks forward to following his progress and celebrating his participation in one of South Africa’s leading youth equestrian events.
