Edutel celebrates nearly 25 years in the education industry

Horizon View-based educational service provider, Edutel, celebrates their 25-year journey during their building inauguration.

Edutel, an educational service provider situated on the corner of Ontdekkers Road and Crane Avenue, proudly inaugurated its new premises on October 4.

What started in a suburban garage nearly two and a half decades ago has flourished into a multi-faceted educational service provider that not only offers higher education certification, but wholesale, retail, management, and public services training as well. They focus on skills development and boast with clients like Woolworths, Makro, and Bidvest Waltons, to name a few.

Edutel started at its current location with only the top floor of the building at its disposal, and Absa Bank at the bottom, but now they have reimagined the whole building into a fully facilitated higher education institute equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms and a library where students can research academic topics on site.

The building also houses the company’s printing facility, which provides textbooks and educational material to each student, as well as the educators. Financial offices, data collection rooms, and marketing facilities are all centralised and located at their Roodepoort branch, as well as additional offices catering to the registrar, markers, and lecturers visiting the building.

During the inauguration longstanding employees gave testimonials about their time with Edutel, sharing their pride and excitement for the future of the company. Oscar Bashing, Tricia van Gass and Sam Zwane, three of the employees who have been with the company for two decades, were among the speakers.

“Edutel started with only six employees, all still here with us today, and have grown abundantly since our startup days in that garage,” affirmed Pelser.

Edutel looks forward to continuing its journey in the education industry, alongside its community here in the West Rand.
