Taxi driver meets his match in honest Metro cops

Metro Police were about to impound taxi.

A taxi driver found out the hard way that bribery is not necessarily ‘the South African way’.

According to Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar, Metro Police officers arrested a taxi driver in Roodepoort this past Friday as his taxi was about to be towed for obstructing traffic. He then tried to bribe the officers with R500 for which he was arrested.

The taxi driver will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon to face charges of bribery and corruption, and will have to pay R2 600 to have his taxi released from the Metro Police pound.
