Two women were arrested this past Friday after they had allegedly robbed a high school learner of his cellphone, using a screwdriver as weapon.
Members of the Florida Police Crime Prevention Unit were on patrol when they received a tip-off about a blue Volkswagen Golf with two female occupants who allegedly had robbed a local high school learner of his Huawei cellphone and threatened him with a screwdriver. Police members then spotted a Golf matching the description driving past them. They followed it and eventually stopped the vehicle at Plaza Road. The occupants were searched and a Huawei cellphone was found on them. They confessed to have robbed the victim of the cellphone. A screwdriver and dagga were found in their vehicle.
The suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and dagga. The two, aged 24 and 28, were detained at Roodepoort Police Station and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
