Wilro Park Lions Club connects local businesses at networking brunch

Local business owners and community members gathered for an informal morning of networking and collaboration hosted by the Wilro Park Lions Club.

Wilro Park — The Wilro Park Lions Club brought residents, local businesses and community members together for a networking brunch aimed at building stronger relationships and creating opportunities for collaboration.

The event provided an informal platform for people from different sectors to meet, exchange ideas and learn more about the work done by the Lions Club in the community.

The Lions Clubs are involved in a range of community service initiatives, including supporting people in need, assisting vulnerable community members, promoting health and education, and responding to local needs through service projects and fundraising initiatives.

The gathering also encouraged local businesses to become more involved in community initiatives and highlighted how partnerships can help support projects that benefit residents.

Guest speakers included Cliff Hocking, an area leader for Lions Clubs International, Ian King from the Alberton Lions Club, and Bernd Gerhard, who spoke about various topics and the work carried out by Lions Clubs in communities.

Wilro Park Lions president Delphine Ferreira said the brunch was an opportunity to introduce the club to local businesses and explore ways to work together.

“This was mainly to introduce the Lions to some businesses in the community and to see where we can effectively collaborate, network and do some community service,” said Ferreira.

“Everybody here is from either an educational or corporate background, and they are actually doing community service on their own.”

As part of the initiative, the Lions also handed out Jars of Hope to businesses attending the event. The jars can be given to people in need, allowing businesses to extend a helping hand to vulnerable members of the community when the opportunity arises.
