Residents will be experiencing a improved billing process from the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) from 1 February next year.

CoJ is currently in the process of changing its billing process to regionalised billing. What does this mean? It means customers will be billed according to the region they live in, and not according to portions, which has resulted in random billing happening in multiple regions in the past. This process has also placed tremendous pressure on meter reading processes and subsequent billing.

The aim of the regionalisation project is to improve the overall billing system, thus ensuring that ratepayers are billed according to the region they live in, that meters are read regionally, and that ratepayers will know when the City bills and be able to choose a due date between the 15th and 28th of each month.

Customers will be affected by this change as follows:
– Changes in billing, meter reading and due dates
– Two bills may be received in the first month of implementation. Th e second bill is not a double billing, but a pro-rata bill which will be due in the same month
– Customers will be advised of the changes via SMS and personalised letters

Region C includes all areas from Roodepoort to Northgate, and includes the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. It also boasts three customer service centres, situated at the following locations:
– Roodepoort Customer Service Centre, 100 Christiaan De Wet Road, Florida Park
– Roodepoort City Hall, corner Dieperink and Berlandina Streets, Roodepoort
– Doornkop Customer Service Centre, Stand 34755, Doornkop
