Boskop gets a thank you cheque of R5 000

CRESTA – Magical Toy Tree sees a local school receive a cheque of R5 000.

CRESTACresta Shopping Centre donated a cheque to the value of R5 000 to Boskop Primary School.

This was a token of thanks for the school’s involvement in making Cresta’s Magical Toy Tree CSI festive season initiative successful.

More than R20 000 was raised and 874 Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse toys were donated to the SOS Children’s Villages in Gauteng.

In collaboration with Walt Disney Company Africa, Cresta’s public CSI drive to help a child ‘Share in the Magic’ during the festive season was launched on 1 December last year at Cresta Shopping Centre’s Turning on The Lights event which consisted of a giant seven-metre-tall Magical Toy Tree decorated with 874 Mickey and Minnie Mouse toys.

The Boskop Primary School choir, who also sang alongside Sama winning songstress LeAnne Dlamini, thrilled a 720-strong crowd of shopper and celebrity guests with festive tunes including Jingle Bells, Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer, All I want for Christmas and Let it Go from Disney’s 2013 hit animated film, Frozen.

“The aim of the event was to call on the public to make donations at the Magical Toy Tree in order to gift a plush toy to a child from the Gauteng SOS Children’s Villages, sharing some of the festive season magic,” said Cresta Shopping Centre general manager, Virginia Bester.

Following the launch event, 874 Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys and an additional R21 796,00 were raised and donated to the SOS Children’s Village Gauteng at an event in Ennerdale on 10 January this year.

The Boskop Primary School choir delighted the crowd with their beautiful vocals at Cresta’s Magical Toy Tree lighting event.

“On behalf of Cresta, I would like to thank the Boskop Primary School Choir and their teacher Mariné Breytenbach for all their hard work which resulted in a beautiful and delightful performance on the evening.

“The handover was such a special and heartwarming experience. The children of the SOS Children’s Village were so excited to receive their Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys, personalised with special messages,” concluded Bester.
