Cable thief leaves Witpoortjie without Telkom service
The recent activities of a suspected Telkom cable thief may have resulted in many Witpoortjie residents being left with no means of communication today.
The suspect was apprehended by Imvula Security this morning (6 March), while he was digging up a cable on Trezona Avenue, Witpoortjie. He was detained by the security officers and the police were informed.
According to a resident, who is also a Telkom employee, he saw the incident as he passed by. “I phoned my brother-in-law, who works at the cable department at Telkom, and he confirmed that the cable had been stolen,” he said.
Telkom was contacted for comment on the matter, but none had been received at the time of publication.
