Feet make light work at Laerskool Fairland rugby day

FAIRLAND – Local school rugby players prove they are fleet of foot.

Young rugby players could not put a foot wrong during a day of matches between Laerskool Fairland and Laerskool Randhart on 31 May.

A total of 10 Districts Primary Schools Superleague games between U8 and U13 level proved that both schools follow similar game plans when it comes to rugby – fast, backline running rugby.

Laerskool Fairland’s fields were abuzz the whole day as fleet of foot centres, scrum-halfs and wings targeted the try lines and excited parents cheered on from the stands.

“Games against Randhart are always tough matches. There has always been healthy competition between the two schools, and good, quality rugby, very physical and competitive,” said Fairland’s sports manager, Ruan Basson.

“In any game, we as coaches like to highlight positives to build on and negatives to learn from. The players definitely had fun regardless of the results. All in all a very successful day.”
