Maragon wins big at BMW Clearwater
On Saturday, 24 March, Maragon Ruimsig competed in and won a BMW graffiti competition at Clearwater BMW.
A graffiti competition was held at Clearwater BMW to help launch BMW’s latest vehicle, the X2.
Students were also given the chance to meet with and speak to a professional graffiti artist, who goes only by the name of Tower.
Tower taught the learners about the history of graffiti and even showed off some unique graffiti-painting techniques.
Once the history lesson and graffiti class concluded, the students began a 45-minute ‘paint-off’ again a couple of other schools including Krugersdorp High School and Trinityhouse Little Falls.
At the end of the paint-off, Maragon was crowned as winner, winning some BMW products as well as R7 500 which will go towards the school’s art studio.
“Being exposed to the art form was such an honour and added to my creative bank account in a significant way. I can’t wait to explore the new genre in greater depth,” said Maragon art student, Nile Adams-Duma.
