The vehicle was ambushed by three men who got out of a white VW Golf GTi wielding firearms. They opened the doors of the victim’s vehicle, which appeared to be about to enter the complex, and took off with the driver’s personal belongings that included a handbag.

Speculations started doing the rounds as to whether the vehicle was an Uber or a car belonging to a resident or visitor.

An agent of the complex, Marcel Naude suspected that the vehicle might have belonged to a visitor due to fact that it stopped at the gate before gaining entry. However, another unconfirmed report suggested that the tenant was robbed while getting out of an Uber.

“If you believe you’re being followed, drive to the nearest police or petrol station for help,” advised police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan.

This is a developing story.
