It is alleged that a bakkie was travelling on Corlett from Ontdekkers Road when it stopped at the intersection’s traffic light. Due to the fact that the traffic lights all go out when they change from green to orange, the driver was under the impression that the traffic light was not working and therefore treated it as a four-way stop. Meanwhile, the traffic light for motorists travelling on Albertina Sisulu had turned green, so a taxi travelling in the direction of Krugersdorp proceeded to cross the intersection, but then collided with the bakkie.

Although there was extensive damage to the vehicles, especially the bakkie, there were no injuries.
