Another successful meeting for the West Rand Toastmasters

Four new members celebrated

The West Rand Toastmasters Club’s 458th meeting had six guests, and celebrated four new members.

Ernest Watkins, the Club’s Sergeant-At- Arms, called the meeting to order, and all members, guests and visitors were welcomed by Esther Dreyer, the Club’s President.

The theme for the evening was ‘Here and There’ which was referenced throughout the evening by Max Kaan, who said, “We should always be in the here rather than in the there, meaning that we should always live for the present moment.”

Alwyn van Wyngaarden took on the role of the Grammarian; he also chose the word for the evening, which was ‘substitute’.

Alwyn was also the Table Topics Master for the evening, while Max Kaan kept everyone in stitches by embracing his role as the Joke Master.

The audience was entertained by Esther Dreyer’s speech which was titled ‘Radio Talk Show’. Stephanie Watkins had everyone laughing with her humorous speech, ‘What is Romance to you?’ Lynette Harris recounted a true story called ‘Adventure 1991’ and Claude Joshua delivered a winning speech, which was entitled ‘Light at the End.’
