Newlands man injured after shooting

He was transported to hospital.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was injured yesterday morning, 13 July,  following a shooting.

The incident happened near a park in Newlands.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, paramedics arrived on scene at 08.44am, and found  local security members already in attendance.

“The man was found lying in the park with a security member nearby. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his buttocks,” Meiring said.

He added that  the man was treated for his injuries on his scene, before being transported to a nearby provincial hospital for further care.

The cause of the incident is not known yet, but local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
