Pedestrian injured in Witpoortjie accident

He was transported to hospital with minor injuries

A pedestrian was knocked down at 4.50pm yesterday, 30 October, when he crossed the busy Trezona Avenue, and did not see the oncoming vehicle.

The pedestrian, who was identified as Petrus Nel, crossed the road without noticing the oncoming Chevrolet bakkie. The driver of the bakkie tried to warn the pedestrian by hooting, but, instead of the pedestrian moving out of the way, he froze in the middle of the road. The bakkie bumped him, causing the pedestrian to make contact with the windshield, before rolling into the road.

By the time the Record arrived on scene ER24 and Emer-G-med had already taken the pedestrian, who only sustained minor injuries and a possible leg injury, to hospital. JMPD confirmed that he was in a stable condition.

The driver sustained no injuries but was treated for minor shock after the incident.
