CLAW in need of gutters to harvest water

CLAW needs a steady water supply to take care of the shelter animals, vegetable gardens and cleaning.

The Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW) is pleading with the community to help with something they cannot go without – water.

Currently, CLAW does not have running water, and only has two Jojo tanks, which a Johannesburg Water truck fills every day.

To ensure a more stable water resource, and to resolve their water crisis, they need to install gutters to help them collect rainwater. CLAW is based in an old Durban Deep mine office building that doesn’t have proper gutters.

“We would like to replace the gutters here at CLAW in order to collect rainwater. The municipality’s trucks brings enough water a day to fill two Jojos for the clinic and surrounding residents; however, there are times that this is not enough to flush toilets, which means staff sometimes cannot safely ablute,” animal activist and founder of CLAW, Cora Bailey explained.

CLAW needs a steady water supply to take care of the shelter animals, vegetable gardens and cleaning. “We are also in need of a new animal scale for the dogs and mesh for the windows. If anyone knows of one, or can donate gutters or Jojo tanks, or make a contribution to the funds for the gutters, please contact me on 076 850 4466. We would really appreciate any help,” Cora concluded.
