Green area in Welties eventually tidied up

With recent rains coupled by humid conditions, City Parks could be forced to return there in a couple of months.

The open green area at the end of Wildebraam Street in Weltevreden Park is no longer an eyesore or security risk, following a long overdue clean-up by Joburg City Parks.

Following resident Johan Kruger’s unheeded requests for City Parks to maintain the bird sanctuary near the cul-de-sac, which poses a security risk, he confirmed that the area was eventually tidied up for a change.

“City Parks actually came and cut the trees and bush in the cul-de-sac a year and 16 days after it was first requested,” Kruger updated.

“Now some other department has to come and remove the cuttings, and yet another department must come and cut the weeds. So I hope it will happen soon, and will not be another forever wait,” he said.

The Northsider will be visiting the area to assess the clean-up. With recent rains coupled by humid conditions, City Parks could be forced to return there in a couple of months.
