The search for the perpetrators of a brutal attack on a 70-year-old woman and her 11-year-old grandson is currently under way.
The two were severely beaten with a shovel and police are urging members of the public to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of those involved. “Police in Florida are investigating a case of attempted murder following an incident on Tuesday morning, 7 July, where an elderly woman and her grandson were attacked and injured,” confirmed police spokesperson, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters.

The victims were attacked in their home on Maud Street and the police report stated that ‘both victims had injuries to their upper bodies’. Florida Community Policing Forum (FCPF) chairperson, Prashan Sukhu, provided an update on the situation, saying, “Nothing is confirmed yet with regards to suspects and we are still tracing.
Victims are stable but still in ICU.” Brigadier Peters is requesting the public’s input, saying, “Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects is asked to please contact Florida Police or their nearest police station as soon as possible.
Informants may also call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or provide information via the My SAPS app that can be downloaded onto any smartphone.”
