Global Estates Platinum celebrates winners in United South Africa selfie challenge
Initially, only one entrant would walk away with the bounty but the response was so overwhelming, Global Estates Platinum were forced to open the bank vault.
A home is a special place yet during the lockdown, those cosy confines reached monstrous levels of monotony.
To help kill the boredom, Global Estates Platinum issued their United South Africa Selfie Challenge to inspire some lockdown fun by getting out and about on Gauteng’s streets. The first person to take a selfie with all 21 of Global Estates Platinum’s ads on JC Decaux’s digital billboards would walk away with a R10 000 cash prize.
However, the challenge was easier said than done as the billboards are scattered the length and breadth of the province. From Mamelodi to Vosloorus, Menlyn to Eastgate, brave selfie aficionados scoured the land in search for the giant billboards to get a step closer to the grand prize.
Initially, only one entrant would walk away with the bounty but the response was so overwhelming, Global Estates Platinum were forced to open the bank vault. “We couldn’t only have one winner. People put in so much effort that we felt it was only fair to extend the prizes to second and third place,” said Christiaan Myburgh, Global Estates Platinum Principal.
Cash prizes of R3 000 and R2 000 were added for second and third respectively, with the road trip adventurers jumping for joy upon receiving their cheques. Grand-prize winner was Struben’s Valley resident Amirouche Makhloufi while Karen Loots bagged second. Tyler Beukes, who completed the challenge in only one day, took third as they all added a little extra bulk to their wallets.
“We wanted to promote something that was fun and wanted to reach people in a unique way,” added Christiaan.
Entrants not only needed their selfies but were required to add the hashtags #flattenthecurve, #unitysouthafrica and #globalestatesselfie to show solidarity with their fellow South Africans. “Global Estates Platinum is about paying it forward and we wanted a way to give something back. Even though most of us were sill at home, South Africa can still be united. We wanted to create hope and show that we care,” continued Christiaan.

Christiaan and his team are looking forward to assisting anyone with their property needs and they relish the consumer interaction, stating emphatically, “Let’s remind each other what it is like to do business with a human being”.
