Unlicensed firearm and stolen car recovered in separate incidents

In the first incident, police arrested a man who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Through community involvement and rapid reactions, police successes were recorded in two separate incidents on 23 and 24 July, respectively.

In the first incident, police arrested a man who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. Sector managers responded to a tip-off of a possible incident at roughly 1.30pm that Thursday afternoon.

When arriving at the given address, an unknown male complied with police, allowing them to search his premises. There they subsequently found the unlicensed firearm and the man was taken into custody. In the second incident, sector managers were on patrol on Winze Drive.

There they noticed a suspicious white Volkswagen Polo Vivo with four occupants and upon closer inspection, it was verified that the vehicle had in fact been stolen from a suburb in Rustenburg. Florida Police spokesperson Sergeant Mpho More confirmed the incidents and congratulated the officers on their successes.

“The suspects were arrested and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon,” she stated.
