Hidden bush cameras help in arrest

The suspect has been detained at Honeydew Police Station.

Hidden bush cameras provided the eyes Absolut Security personnel needed to pounce on a suspect who was part of a house robbery syndicate in the early hours of Wednesday, 12 August.

Dean Alberts of Absolut Security told Northsider that the arrest followed last week’s armed robbery which prompted a planned investigation and operation in the greenbelt.

“On 11 August around 7.23pm four suspects were noticed going into the greenbelt from the Garden World side. We did strategic planning and placed undercover armed officers in strategic positions,” he explained.

He said these targeted criminals had been seen being dropped off and picked up by a bakkie after terrorising the residents.

However, at about 4am on Wednesday, the suspects ran out of luck in a different area. “After they were dropped off below the mountain in Helderkruin, our officers noticed the white Isuzu double cab and blocked its way, leading to a single arrest. In their possession was a suspected stolen Samsung double-door fridge,” Alberts explained.

He added that the suspect has been detained at Honeydew Police Station.

Finally, Alberts urged anyone who had lost or recognises the fridge to contact him on 083 410 2851.
