Suspects confess to stealing cables in Ruimsig

Both men confessed that they were cutting cables in the area

At least two cable thieves were taken off the streets following an arrest by BCI Security in the Ruimsig AH area recently.

Arno Dorfling of BCI Security told Northsider that members of their Tactical Response Team and one junior operations manager followed a suspicious vehicle last week, which led to the arrest of the suspects who confessed to having stolen cables in the area.

“It was about 8pm when the guys from Tactical Response saw a suspicious white Toyota Corolla driving around the area. Knowing that cable theft in that area is horrifying, our members decided to follow the vehicle but lost it. However, our members continued to drive around until they came across a man exiting the bush,” Dorfling explained.

He said when the man was approached, he started running away. “There was a short pursuit and the man was caught. While out guys were apprehending this man, another man came out of the bush, and was also chased and caught. Both men confessed that they were cutting cables in the area,” he further explained.
