Transporters of cash may rival any endangered species for the frequency with which they are hunted. Despite being heavily armed, the possibility of danger is ever present for these vital security officers.
While unconfirmed by police, credible information indicates that the Engen garage on Corlett Avenue was the scene of a robbery on Tuesday, 22 September. The incident is said to have occurred at roughly 11am when a group of men held up a security guard who was collecting cash at the petrol station.
Watch here:
Unlike the standard method of hijacking and blowing up a cash-in-transit vehicle, the men intercepted the security guard between his collection point and vehicle. Details are still unknown, as is the exact number of men involved, but stills of the CCTV footage show the gold Mercedes-Benz and white Audi sedan used in the commission of the crime.
If any member of the public has additional information they are urged to contact their nearest police station.
Comment from police will be provided when forthcoming.
