Aggressive beggars warned by local security

On 9 October, the BCI control room received numerous phone calls from community members complaining about the aggressive beggars that were threatening and verbally abusing motorists (some with children in their vehicles) at the busy intersection.

Beggars on the roads usually evoke a sense of empathy in numerous motorists who then offer them food and loose change.

However, unheard of aggressive behaviour sparked fear in motorists recently when beggars lost it with ‘stingy’ motorists on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Fredenharry Roads in Strubens Valley.

On 9 October, the BCI control room received numerous phone calls from community members complaining about the aggressive beggars that were threatening and verbally abusing motorists (some with children in their vehicles) at the busy intersection.

BCI teams were dispatched to investigate and found the beggars in question at the intersection. They requested them to leave the area or alternatively be removed by the police.

They opted to leave the area, according to BCI Security director Corinda Loots.

Corinda also said two of her dedicated reaction fleets monitored the intersection to ensure that there was no further threat against motorists and the community at large.
