Illegal electricity connections pose not only a danger to existing infrastructure but also to the average pedestrian. The body of a young adult male has been found in a field adjacent to Acropolis Street in Davidsonville on Wednesday, 21 October.
The exact circumstances around his death are unknown, but early evidence suggests the man was electrocuted after coming in contact with an illegal electricity connection running through the field. “An inquest docket has been opened and is currently under investigation. The family will receive trauma counselling at the victim support centre,” said Roodepoort Police spokesperson, Captain Juanita Yorke.
“Thank you to the West Rand K9 Squad for being on hand to retrieve the body,” Yorke continued. She also urged the public to continue to report illegal connections in an attempt to avoid such incidents.
