Clothing retailer robbed in Roodepoort CBD

A female till operator was going about her shift, when at roughly midday two unknown suspects entered the store.

Shoppers on a casual Saturday excursion had a brief encounter with the ever-present danger on our streets. A popular clothing, homeware and cellular retailer on Van Wyk Street was the location of an armed robbery on Saturday, 17 October.

A female till operator was going about her shift, when at roughly midday two unknown suspects entered the store. One suspect drew his firearm and the men proceeded to rob the Ackermans outlet. “One suspect with a firearm cocked it and took R6 500 from the till, then both fled the scene,” confirmed police spokesperson, Constable Takalani Mathumba.

Staff at the store confirmed that there were no injuries and that they were doing their best to recover. “No shots were fired and no arrests have been made yet. The investigation is ongoing,” elaborated Constable Mathumba.

Should any member of the public have any information on the suspects, they are urged to please contact Roodepoort Police Station immediately.
