The sanctity of one’s home receives no respect from vicious thugs. Home invasions are too common and it is always a relief to know the victims escaped unharmed.
Late in the evening of Sunday, 18 October, five armed males entered a house in Discovery where the husband and wife were held at gunpoint and forced to open their safe. The robbers loaded a revolver, money, clothing and other household items into the homeowners’ Mercedes-Benz.
Fortunately, police had been alerted to the incident and responded to the scene before all the suspects could make a clean escape. “One suspect was arrested at the scene of the crime, and the Mercedes-Benz and other items were recovered,” confirmed Florida Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mpho More.
The remaining four men fled and are still at large, but their apprehended accomplice has appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court.
