On Thursday, 5 November a suspect was caught hiding in the roof after he allegedly snatched three cellphones from customers at Rock Cottage Shopping Centre.
According to security company personnel who were on scene, a man robbed a woman of her cellphone when she went to the bathroom at the shopping centre. She ran out screaming, alerting centre security.
The suspect managed to disappear by climbing into the roof, and personnel from two security companies and the police searched that section of the roof. Meanwhile he managed to move on and steal two more cellphones in another section.
One of the security guards at the centre spotted the suspect on a separate part of the roof and he was apprehended with the assistance of two armed reaction companies’ personnel.
Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan confirmed the arrest of the male suspect and that he was detained at the Honeydew Police Station.
