Swift reaction to a business robbery in Cosmo City resulted in the arrest of two armed suspects and the recovery of firearms, cellphones and cash.
According to Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, on 8 November at 9.20pm, police responded to the business robbery during which two thugs had held up the shop keeper and discharged a firearm.
“The complainant, Mr Gibson, 40, was at work at Diva fast food spaza (tuck shop) on Ivory Coast Street as a shopkeeper when the two thugs entered, both armed with firearms. They threatened the complainant and fired one shot, and hit an unknown bystander in his hand,” Muthan explained the ordeal.
He said the victim collapsed and was taken to Leratong Hospital.
“Members from Honeydew responded and managed to arrest both suspects, and recovered seven cellphones, two firearms and the stolen money,” he said.
