TKSWR learners walk into leadership

Seventeen newly badged leaders took an oath to lead, act as ambassadors and promote the school’s code of conduct.

Following a remarkable tenure by the outgoing prefects of 2020 at The King’s School West Rand (TKSWR), the incoming prefects have been left with big shoes to fill.

Beaming with pride and positivity, the 2021 prefects were inaugurated on the evening of 10 November during a prestigious inauguration ceremony attended by their supportive and loving parents.

Seventeen newly badged leaders took an oath to lead, act as ambassadors and promote the school’s code of conduct.

The outgoing head prefects, Tadiwanashe Tekere and Jaden Lloyd, who paid tribute to their team for doing a sterling job despite a very difficult year, told the incoming lot that their team had laid a good foundation for them to continue this leadership journey.

Since leadership comes with popularity, position and power, TKSWR principal and leader of the school Ken Langley, spoke against these perks and promoted that they should resemble Jesus in their leadership skills.

“We are training up young people in leadership, but we are doing so in a way that is different from the world’s teachings – not to seek popularity, position and power because a lot of people think they are necessary for good leadership. We looked at examples of Jesus who showed that leadership was not about what was mentioned,” he explained.
