Workmen court case postponed to next year

The standby Magistrate was forced to postpone the matter to 14 January for the continuation of the trial.

The trial of the five workmen who were charged with malicious damage to City-owned property last year has been postponed to next year.

The five men appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court again on Tuesday, 24 November, this time in Court B instead of Court A.

The postponement was a result of the absence of the Magistrate of Court A who was on leave.

The standby Magistrate was forced to postpone the matter to 14 January for the continuation of the trial.

She also indicated that should the trial not be concluded on the 14th, it should be rolled over to the next day (15 January).

The bail of the five men, who were arrested for illegally affixing a heavy steel structure against the Golf Club Terrace bridge in Constantia Kloof in October 2019, was extended until the next court date.
