With the festive season in full swing, top Honeydew Police cop, Brigadier Anesh Maharaj has wished all residents a safe and happy festive season.
“On behalf of the station management and personnel of the Honeydew Police Station, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all community members a safe, joyous and peaceful festive season. The community can be rest assured that the police and other law enforcement partners will be out in full force to ensure that everyone feels safe around Honeydew policing precinct,” the station commander promised.
He explained that they have already commenced with their festive season operations and have recorded a number of successes thus far, which include, house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms, dealing in drugs, dealing in dagga, assaults, undocumented persons, illegal shebeens raids, and other serious crimes.
“Let’s drink responsibly and avoid drinking from strange places. Drinking and driving is a crime and the Police will act accordingly. Let us not leave our valuables lying around in the car, close widows, do not accept help from strangers at ATMs,” he urged.
With government’s bid to reduce illegal firearms on the streets, Maharaj advised about the amnesty period, “The Firearm Amnesty process has officially opened for all to surrender illegal or unwanted firearms, ammunition and or firearm parts from 1 August to 31 January 2021. Our firearm office will be working from Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm weekly”.
“I wish our whole community a blessed and safe festive season,” he concluded.
