Body of middle aged man found in field off Trezona Avenue
A combination of Roodepoort and Krugersdorp police attended the scene and the body was transported to Roodepoort mortuary
An inquest docket has been opened at Roodepoort Police Station after the body of a man was found in a field across from the Arizona Cafe on the corner of Proot Street and Trezona Avenue, 26 January.
Initial reports suggested that there was a shooting incident outside the small shopping centre but when authorities arrived on scene, they found a more sombre sight. Shortly before 7pm, members of the Community Policing Forum and the neighbourhood watch found the body of a white male with a firearm on the ground nearby. The man had suffered what is believed, yet unconfirmed, to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The exact description of the man has not been given but witnesses claim he was roughly 50 years old with a large build. Roodepoort and Krugersdorp Police members attended the scene and the body was transported to Roodepoort Mortuary by a City of Johannesburg ambulance.
Should any member of the public be missing a friend or family member fitting that description, they are asked to please contact the Roodepoort Police Station on 011 279 6400.
