Fun and safety during first day of school

Instead of teary and grumpy faces, these little school beginners were keen to learn and excited to make new friends, although it meant seeing half of their faces due to their wearing masks.

As most private schools officially opened their doors to teaching and learning on Monday, 1 February, The King’s School West Rand (TKSWR) ensured that the first day of school for its Grade 1s was fun, memorable, and in line with strict Covid-19 compliance on campus.

Grade 1 teacher Ashley Bester, who will be responsible for one of the classes, said her task will be to make sure that every single learner feels like they belong in her classroom.

“I’m sure they have a place of belonging here, and feel that school is always fun,” the friendly teacher vowed.
