Local authorities are on the lookout for four suspects driving in the latest model silver Toyota Corolla who had made off with valuables from a complex in Strubens Valley on Monday, 22 February.
According to Young, four males lifted the gate off the rail to gain access to the complex before robbing the resident of one of the units.
“They gained access into a unit next to the gate where the resident was at home at the time. The intruders forced their way in and asked her about a safe,” he said, adding that they found no safe on the property but helped themselves to valuables such as televisions, jewellery and other appliances.

Young further reported that another resident arrived and noticed the gate was damaged, and decided to block the way for the robbers.
“He parked in front of their vehicle. The driver was inside and blew his horn, notifying the three inside who then jumped the wall and robbed the man of his wallet and phone, and sped off,” he explained.
Young also stressed the importance of beefing up security. “It is imperative to have your complex secured. Install gate-tampering devices, panic alarms, and cameras at the entrance and exit points,” he advised.
