TKSWR proud of matric results, despite hard 2020

TKSWR attained a 98 per cent university entrance, accompanied by 81 per cent Bachelors degree passes, and 51 distinctions from 48 candidates.

“When we look at the matric results for 2020, we can only marvel at the resilience of our students and their teachers.”

Those were the words of a delighted The King’s School West Rand principal Ken Langley after his school achieved a praiseworthy 98 per cent pass rate, despite the hardship of learning during a pandemic last year.

“In a pandemic year with lost contact teaching time and added stress related to Covid-19, they have achieved remarkably good results.. We are confident that these matric students, who have graduated, will go out and be positive contributors in society seeking to serve the common good of all our people,” Langley wished the his class of 2020 well.

Among the top achievers are Mia Forgey and Alicia Ferreira, who achieved a full house of eight distinctions each. The eighth distinction was an additional subject which for Mia was AP Maths, and for Alicia it was AP English.

Mia was also in the top 5 per cent nationally, and in the top 1 per cent for Afrikaans, Maths and Science.
