One man dies after taxi and light motor vehicle collide

Authorities were on scene and the incident is under investigation

As the weekend comes to an end many use Sunday night to prepare for a Monday morning they take for granted.

One man was sadly killed when his light motor vehicle was involved in a collision with a minibus taxi on Sunday, 14 March. At roughly 8.45pm paramedics responded to a scene on Marina Street, which runs along the outskirts of Zandspruit towards Cosmo City. The first responders found the driver of the taxi still inside his vehicle, but the other driver had been ejected from his car.

“Both vehicles had sustained a significant amount of damage in the collision. Medics assessed the men and found the taxi driver in a serious condition, while the other man was in a critical condition,” described ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring.

The taxi driver was transported to hospital, but the second man succumbed to his injuries despite advanced life support interventions on scene.
