Pro wrestling tough guys show their marshmallowy soft spot for the community

The relaxed atmosphere of the Easter weekend served as perfect inspiration to take a step away from the athletic theatre that is pro wrestling.

Entering the municipal park-sized ring via a white 4×4, the Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) tag team of Steve Eden and Gene The Rejected Clown delivered sugar-filled pyrotechnics with a thunderous collision of marshmallow and chocolate. Billed as an all-out assault on unhappiness, the two professional wrestlers took an escorted afternoon road trip in search of any children lacking in Easter cheer on Saturday, 3 April.

In convoy with the Kruin Community Volunteer Association (KCVA) security affiliates and members of their newly formed Kruin Neighbourhood Watch (KNW), the group began their festivities in Roodekrans before moving to Breaunanda and then on to Horizon View. “It was an honour getting together with all the different security companies to make a little difference, even if it is just to put smile on a face,” said the HWA World Champion, The ‘Flying Springbok’ Steve Eden.

The spontaneous show of selflessness could not have been successful without a coll-egg-tive effort. “In various Easter drives over the weekend, National/ Apcan, Dowry, Help Secure, Fidelity/ ADT and the KCVA/ KNW lit up many small eyes to a surprise of the Easter egg team. As an organisation that is built on caring, the joy of giving is a treasured privilege. We wish to thank our security partners who share the ideal to unite and take care of our members and the community,” said KCVA chairman, Deon van Wyk.

The ambitious community support consortium have broadened their collaborations with various private entities and claim to be within touching distance of recognition by authorities. Community upliftment is a joint venture with the more members personally invested, the greater the dividends.
