Two hospitalised following Honeydew collision

One man was found lying trapped inside one of the vehicles while another was busy walking around the scene.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), Honeydew Police and local emergency services responded to a collision at the Northumberland and Apolo Road intersection in Honeydew on Wednesday, 7 April.

An hour after midday, ER24, Life Healthcare and another service arrived on the scene to find the two vehicles on the side of the road.

One man was found lying trapped inside one of the vehicles while another was busy walking around the scene.

Medical personnel used specialised rescue equipment to free the entrapped man. Once he was extricated, the patients were treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

JMPD spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar confirmed the accident and that local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

“The accident occurred between two cars and one driver got seriously injured and was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital. The occupant of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital for treatment. This accident will be investigated,” said Minnaar.
