A case of armed robbery has been opened with the Muldersdrift Police after valuables and electronics were stolen at a property on Lake View Drive on 9 April. Waygard Drift Security were alerted to the scene where they found the house ransacked. “The robbers took money, laptops and cell phones before fleeing the scene in a black VW Polo,” said Waygard Drift’s public relations officer, Simonne Prinsloo.
Sergeant Mulalo Ndou from Muldersdrift Police said they were looking for three male suspects. CCTV footage shows the suspected getaway vehicle outside the property, but unfortunately the registration number is not visible on the footage.

Prinsloo said the men gained entrance by attacking the gardener who sustained injuries, before going into the house and confronting the residents. One resident was hit over the head and the others were tied up. According to reports, the suspects remained on the phone with the driver of the Polo and informed him to “circle back” shortly before they left.
The security company is currently offering counselling to the survivors. Prinsloo also urged residents to report suspicious activity, people or vehicles to their security control room. “We actually had other residents say they had seen the car driving outside the gate. In cases like these, it’s better to be safe than sorry. When you see something that looks suspicious, call your security control room,” she said.
