VIDEO: Nine people displaced after shack fire
The situation was eventually brought under control after four shacks had burnt out and nine people were displaced.
On Tuesday, 13 April at approximately 7.30am Mogale Fire Services and Muldersdrift Fire Protection Association (FPA) units responded to a shack fire next to the Africa Shop on Beyers Naudé Drive opposite Mountain View Drive.
It is alleged that a fire broke out in a shack, believed to have been caused by a paraffin stove, and quickly spread to neighbouring shacks.

A CPF member made the call for help and the Muldersdrift FPA, Fire Ops SA and Mogale Fire Services teams responded.

Ward councillor Molefi Selibo together with West Rand Disaster Management are currently assisting the affected families.
The Muldersdrift FPA together with training personnel from the West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) are currently conducting fire safety and awareness campaigns at Muldersdrift schools.
“In addition, to prevent further disasters and in preparation for the fire season, volunteer FPA fire teams have been formed in the larger informal settlements like Video & ABSA Camp.
“These team members are receiving firefighting and first aid training, and will be ready to be first responders to fire emergencies in their communities going forward.
“The Muldersdrift FPA are providing fire buckets and other equipment to help these teams respond effectively,” said Muldersdrift FPA Exco spokesperson, Shenan Cochrane.
