Common robbery incidents have become an almost everyday occurrence on the West Rand, with criminals increasingly taking or attempting to take anything of value by force while traumatising their victims.
On Thursday morning, 22 April, Beagle Watch officers tracked down and apprehended a suspect linked to two incidents of common robbery in Kloofendal.
The Beagle Watch officers were investigating an earlier report of a common robbery, when a domestic worker at another house in the area flagged them down.
The domestic worker reported an attempted common robbery and was able to provide a description of the suspect and the getaway vehicle.
It is alleged that the suspect had sprayed the victim with pepper spray in an effort to steal a lawnmower, but had been unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, as a third Beagle Watch response officer approached the scene to provide back-up, he reported a two-vehicle collision.
It transpired that one of the vehicles involved in the accident was the one that both victims had identified.
One suspect was arrested on the scene and the case was handed over to the police for further investigations.
