Give the gift of hope with Child Welfare
Help Child Welfare feed four people with one Jar of Hope.
Child Welfare South Africa Roodepoort (CWSAR) may be based in Discovery, but they serve more than 25 areas.
This non-profit organisation (NPO) protects children who are victims of neglect, abuse and abandonment by helping to get them to a safe environment, assisting with their court cases, and making sure that they are safe. The NPO not only rescues vulnerable children, but feeds the local community as well. While they have always provided the essential items they could for foster families (like food, toiletries, cleaning supplies and clothes), the organisation also has several adult walk-ins who are desperate for food.

As a part of their feeding programme, CWSAR has been making and distributing Jars of Hope to hungry community members and foster families, and they are asking for the community’s help to keep this project going.

One Jar of Hope is filled with enough ingredients to make a filling, healthy meal for four people; all they need to do is boil two-and-a-half litres of water and add the contents of their jar. It is also not a costly donation to make because you can use old jars lying around your house, or even zip lock bags, and the few ingredients in the jar will most likely be in your cupboard already.
Each jar is filled with the following ingredients:
• ½ cup of rice
• ½ cup of soup mix
• ½ cup of lentils
• 1 unwrapped stock cube
• 1 packet of soup powder

If you are able to donate a Jar of Hope it will go a long way in filling hungry stomachs. Donations can be dropped off at the CWSAR branch at 45 Du Toit Street, Discovery. For more information or any queries, contact Este le Roux (Head of Marketing) on 073 260 4003.
