The driver of a Capital Air security vehicle was fatally shot on 29 April on Hendrik Potgieter Road.
The vehicle was escorting a Spartan truck when a vehicle drove past them and its occupants opening fire from the side. Johan Pretorius from Fidelity ADT, one of the first responders on the scene, said. “It was four men in a silver Audi Q7. One shooter with an AK-47 shot and killed the driver, and one of the crew members in the vehicle was shot in the arm.”

Pretorius said a lookout for the suspected vehicle is currently under way to locate the suspects.

The road going towards Clearwater Mall is currently closed as investigations are being conducted. Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan confirmed the shooting saying, “The vehicle was going towards Clearwater Mall when the attempted hijacking happened. The matter is currently under investigation.”
